** October 2015 update

** what your local Transition group has been up to.

As you may remember our Transition group was instrumental in the winning of the £1 million of lottery money to run the Sustainable Harborough project. Our volunteers help out with their various projects from manning stalls, gardening and indeed to being directors on the steering board and the two cooperatives that have been grown from the project.

Please read below for some exciting updates.

Harborough One launches
After a year of hard work Harborough Energy has launched its first Community Energy project and are looking for people to invest in rooftop solar on a local school – Robert Smyth Academy, and a local small business – Archway House Natural Health Centre.

If you are interested in finding out more about the project please click the link below.

We are really excited about this project because it offers an opportunity for everyone to win – investors get returns on their investment, the school and business get reduced energy bills and the community gets a 20 year community fund with which to fight fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions.

Apple day 2015

Our annual apple day event is approaching, we will be bringing our community apple press out for all to see on Saturday. We will be in the town centre from 10am to 4pm crushing locally picked apples.

Pop along and sample some juice and if you have your own apple trees you can buy a share in the press and have it at your home to crush apples to make your very own juice.

edibLe16 is one year old

It seems incredible to us, but a year has almost passed since edibLE16 went live! We took our first order on October 13th, 2014, and we will be celebrating our first birthday in a number of ways over the coming week ( s.

Additional Friday PM pickup time
We are really pleased to announce that, starting from Friday November 6th, we will be offering an additional Pick Up time on Friday afternoon, from 4.30pm to 6pm.

If you like the idea of local food and supporting local producers then edibLE16 is a great place to get their produce in a single pick up! (

Community Orchard project looks to bloom

Patience is a virtue, as they say, and after years of negotiation it looks like we will be able to announce a new community Orchard soon.
